So, last week I got very upsetting news that I may have a septated uterus and/or the scar from my C-section 6 yrs ago could be separating. They recommended an HSG to assess the situation better. In short, an HSG is a procedure that induces dye throughout the fallopian tubes and uterus for various reasons. In my case, even though I took 3 extra strength tylenols beforehand, it was VERY painful.
I did find out that my fallopian tubes were clogged (not completely blocked but significantly clogged with mucous). The great news is that this procedure now opened them wide open and there is no longer any blockage. Also, I DO NOT have a septated uterus which is wonderful news. The Dr. explained that in many cases, septated uterus's lead to fertility issues. He did say that my uterus is "abnormally" shaped in what he calls a mild "bicornuate uterus". He said that this shouldn't cause any fertility issues but could cause issues during pregnancy. He said now that they are aware of this issue, he will make sure that I am monitored once I am PG.
So all in all, we are thankful it was nothing serious. Thanks for all the support from everyone. It means a lot!
Congrats on the rotor rooter cleaning things up and good news that your uterus is in tact. I wish you the best, hopefully this does the trick!
